Order of Omega

Order of Omega is a national Greek Leadership Honor Society that recognizes Juniors and Seniors who have exhibited and continue to exhibit exceptional leadership within the Greek community at Penn. Our members aim to push forth the positive aspects of Greek Life: characterscholarshipservice, and leadership.

As a foundation, we facilitate relationships and friendships between passionate Greek leaders through social events. We seek to use our influence and inter-connectedness to enact initiatives that better the Greek community. In the past, we have published a Greek newsletter highlighting chapters’ positive programming, distributed awards at the annual Greek Awards Ceremony recognizing service to the community and young leaders with great potential, and ran a mentorship program connecting experienced leaders with new leaders to help advise and guide the new leaders.

How to Join

We select new members to join the Theta Xi chapter of Order of Omega at the beginning of each semester. In order to be considered for membership, a candidate must:

  • be of Junior or Senior class standing
  • be a member of an officially recognized Greek-letter social organization at Penn
  • have demonstrated substantial and dedicated leadership within his or her chapter or the broader Greek community

An open application for admission is distributed via IGC, IFC, and Panhellenic listservs near the beginning of each semester. This occurs alongside an informal “tapping” process, wherein current members have the opportunity to identify and recommend candidates they feel particularly strong about being selected. Applications from all prospective candidates are collected, and some candidates will be invited to interview with the selection committee. Following the interview, select candidates are invited back to attend a “smoker” (informal event) with the chapter membership. After a final round of deliberations, about 20 new individuals are accepted into the organization.
