We're Celebrating 175 Years of Fraternity & Sorority Life at Penn!
Fraternity life at the University of Pennsylvania began in 1849 with the founding of Delta Phi. Within the next two years several other chapters were started thus forming Penn’s fraternal community.
Since then, fraternity and sorority life has flourished and served the Penn and greater Philadelphia community for more than 174 uninterrupted years, making Penn’s system one of the oldest continuous fraternity communities in the country.
Today, 40 fraternity and sorority chapters provide students a family and home away from home, encourage academic excellence, community service, and philanthropic endeavors, and create bonds for a lifetime.
